Leroy Sane has revealed Pep Guardiola's half-time talk woke the team up and inspired Manchester City to their 3-0 victory at Huddersfield.

Sane admitted Guardiola was unhappy with City's first-half display, despite them leading 1-0 at the break at the John Smith's Stadium.

City closed the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table to four points, with Danilo, Sane and Raheem Sterling scoring the goals on Sunday.

According to Sane, the City boss had to remind his players to reassert themselves in the second half.

He said: "I think everyone could see in the second half we played quicker, had better position and we controlled the game really well.

"[Guardiola said] we can't play the way we played in the first half. If they scored at 1-1 then it would have been difficult to win the game.

"That's why he woke us up a little bit to play our game again quicker, better and helped us with the spaces.

Danilo, who scored the opener against Huddersfield, added: "The important thing is the win. I'm happy for the goal, for sure, it helped the team so we have to push and keep going that way.

"Sometimes we tried things [in the first half] that didn't happen, so it was important in the second half that we pushed and were more intensive."

Pep Guardiola insists he's still looking for improvement from his Manchester City side following the 3-0 win against Huddersfield.

He said: "The way we played, we didn't deserve more than three goals.

"We will improve in the future. We have to demand more from ourselves in every game and do our best, but sometimes it's difficult. They defended deep and man to man.

"I'd prefer to be in Liverpool's position but all we can do is win our games so what should I say?

"We have to win our games and improve, so now I need to analyse what we have done in our games to improve."
