Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has reportedly suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Guinea in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was substituted at half-time and was carried off the pitch on a team-mate's back because no stretcher was available.

Keita is the third Liverpool player to be injured on Africa Cup of Nations qualifying duty alongside attackers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Salah was substituted during Egypt's clash with Swaziland after straining his thigh muscle, while Mane is believed to have broken his thumb after being pictured with a bandage on his left hand following Senegal's 3-0 victory Sudan on Monday.

Liverpool are also monitoring the fitness of Virgil van Dijk and James Milner ahead of Saturday evening's trip to Huddersfield.

Milner went off with a hamstring injury in Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Manchester City before the international break while Van Dijk has been managing a rib problem.

Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman says Van Dijk is fit to return for Liverpool, but claimed the defender has been playing with two broken ribs.
