Gianfranco Zola says uncertainty over Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's future isn't healthy for the club.
Conte's second season at the club ended with lifting the FA Cup after victory over Manchester United at Wembley but they finished outside the Champions League qualification spots, coming fifth in the Premier League.
The Italian manager has one year left on his three-year contract but his future has been the subject of widespread speculation, with Conte publicly criticising Chelsea's transfer policy last season.
Zola, who played for Chelsea from 1996 until 2003, has said he isn't sure if Conte would remain in charge next season.
Speaking to Sky Sports at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, Zola said: "It's very difficult to say. There have been a lot of issues. For me, it's sad because he's a manager who has done well.
"It's not healthy. The Premier League is such a competitive league and everything on the inside at a club needs to be spot on.
"It's a pity, because I repeat, Antonio is a very good manager."
