Pep Guardiola joked it was "good red wine" that kept him locked in Manchester City's dressing-room for 50 minutes after Sunday's draw with Southampton.
City's players did not emerge until long after the 1-1 draw had left Guardiola without a win in five games for just the second time in his managerial career.
But the City boss played down the importance of the post-match inquest, insisting it was "nothing special".
"The red wine was good and I took a little bit longer," Guardiola said in his press conference. "We were together, we spoke, but nothing special. We speak about what is the situation.
"I was a football player and I know this can happen. You are able to win 10 times in a row and after you are not able to win five times. That is part of football. You have to accept that.
"I have to discover the reason why and I am going to find that. I have to help the team achieve."
City remain top of the Premier League on goal difference having won their first six games and have the opportunity for a second derby win of the season when they go to Old Trafford in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports.
Kevin De Bruyne will need assessing ahead of the fourth-round tie after a calf injury forced him off at half-time against Saints.
