Borussia Mönchengladbach (Shanghai) Sport Development Co. Ltd.

Borussia has had its own daughter company (Borussia Mönchengladbach (Shanghai) Sport Development Co. Ltd.) in China since 2018, with the aim of carrying out local development projects effectively and successfully aiding development in one of the furthest-reaching markets in the world. This includes the management of social media platforms which are relevant in China, such as Sina Weibo, Wechat and Douyin.

Suqian

In 2018, Borussia Mönchengladbach was commissioned by the Department for Sport and Education to use its expertise to promote the development of football in Suqian, which has a population of five million people and is located in the province of Jiangsu. For this purpose, trainers and teachers are trained on location, talent scouting and promotion is carried out, a competition system is installed and much more. Two of the club’s sports advisors are therefore permanently stationed here.

Tongji

Borussia Mönchengladbach is proud to be a founding member of the Sino-German union. In cooperation with one of the most reputable universities in China, the Tongji University in Shanghai, the union aims to promote football development, especially within Chinese schools, together with many other partners from the two counties.

Borussia Academy Shanghai

The Borussia Academy Shanghai is another milestone for the club in Asia. By merging with the renowned Ebbe Sand Soccer Academy, Borussia has gained the right partner to jointly implement a sustainable, high-quality academy approach in the Chinese metropolis.

At five international schools in the city area, the Borussia Academy offers children and young people between the ages of 5-18 years a high-class and unique access to the training philosophy that has been shaping football in Mönchengladbach for decades, thus ensuring happy faces for young and old

Borussia Academy Guangzhou

With the Borussia Academy in the city of Guangzhou, Borussia has opened its second academy in China. In cooperation with an international school, young football players are trained to become genuine foals who proudly represent Borussia.

During Borussia's China Tour 2019, the football-mad metropolis of Guangzhou was the venue for the friendly match against Chinese first division club Guangzhou R&F.

Borussia has sustainably positioned itself with the Borussia Academy in the city of Guangzhou.

CSR Football Project

According to the motto "Football is for everyone", Borussia and its partners Trützschler and Kesseböhmer are running projects at migrant schools to provide access to football for socially disadvantaged children.

In this sustainable project, Borussia and its partners run regular football-related physical education classes for elementary school children throughout the school year. The aim is to create a team sports culture, promote physical activity, strengthen equality for migrant children and teach values such as tolerance and respect.

Out of these physical education classes, Borussia selects the most talented children and organizes school teams, which are trained on a regular basis according to Borussia’s philosophy. The teams participate in the local school league as representatives of their school. Borussia also organizes regular friendly matches and supports the children in achieving a top level and, above all, in enjoying football.
